KOTTAYAM: The bodies of the two girls who jumped into the Moovattupuzha River from Murinjapuzha Bridge in Vaikkom have been found. The bodies were that of Amritha and Arya G Ashok missing from Ayoor. The body of Amritha washed ashore at Poochakkal. The bodies were found in a search conducted by the police and fire force. The bodies have been identified by the relatives.

The two B.Ed students went missing two days ago. They left home saying they were going to Anchal College to get their certificates. Police found that one of their phones was last switched off in Thiruvalla area. After deciding to commit suicide, they boarded the first bus and reached Kottayam. Police said CCTV footages of the two walking have been obtained. They were intimate friends and one of their wedding has been fixed.

The locals nearby found the two jumping into the Moovattupuzha River from Murinjapuzha Bridge in Vaikkom on Saturday. A youth witness to the incident said that one of the girls held the hand of the other and then jumped into the river. Though a search was conducted on that day and the next day, they were not found. A pair of slippers and handkerchief were found on the spot.
