KATTAPPANA: In a tragic incident, a one and a half-year-old girl died after falling into a tarpaulin pond. The deceased has been identified as Aleena, daughter of Irattayar native Anoop and Sonia. The incident occurred by around 11 am on Sunday. According to sources, Aleena, who was playing with her siblings, went missing after some time. Following this, the family conducted a search and the girl's body was found lying in the pond on the backside of the house.

Though the child was immediately rushed to the hospital, doctors were not able to save her life. The body is currently kept at the mortuary and will be handed over to relatives on Monday after post mortem.
