CHALAKKUDY: Man drowned to death while bathing at Pillapara Vanchikkadavu in Chalakkudy river. The deceased was identified as KG Anil Kumar (59), of Komparaveettil Deepam Line at Vyttila Chalikavattom. Music director Shibu Chakravarthy's sister Dr. Sheela is his wife. The accident took place at around 4.30 pm Saturday.

Three families, including Shibu Chakravarthy, came for the excursion. While bathing, Anil Kumar moved to a higher part of the river and was swept away. The local residents immediately launched a search. Athirappilly police and fire brigade from Chalakudy arrived soon after. An hour later, Anil Kumar was found on a nearby raft and brought ashore but was found dead. The body was taken to the Chalakudy Taluk Hospital mortuary. The post-mortem will be conducted today after the Covid test. Daughter: Sajana.
