THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed 5376 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

Among this, 4724 persons developed the disease through contact including 527 cases without an identified source of infection. 81 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 44 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 5590 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 61,209 active cases in the state.

The state recorded 31 COVID deaths on Thursday with the toll rising to 2329.

In the last 24 hours, 60,476 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 8.89.

With the addition of 1 new region today and the removal of 9, there are 473 hotspots in the state.
