
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed 5848 cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among this, 5137 persons developed the disease through contact including 613 cases without an identified source of infection. 53 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 45 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 5820 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 61,393 active cases in the state.
The state recorded 32 COVID deaths on Saturday with the toll rising to 2390.

In the last 24 hours, 60,503 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.67.
With the addition of 2 new regions today and the removal of 2, there are 444 hotspots in the state.
