The soil of Tamil Nadu is so strong locally that it had stemmed growth of the roots of national parties in its soil for decades. Two sides of the political coin there bear only the symbols of Dravida politics and hence the victory is sure for one of them.

The Congress which lost its strength by 70s has a growth graph that has plunged.
For the BJP, which gives importance to Ram finds less of a fertile land in Tamil Nadu, which has a dominance of Siva and Muruka temples.
Dravida politics has always given importance to faces. It was MGR or Karunanidhi and that later changed to either Jayalalitha or Karunanidhi.
Experts call the election that comes five months later, a faceless election. There won’t be Karunanidhi nor Jayalalithaa then.

There are differences in the ruling AIADMK but for a battle on poll field, Shashikala will come out of Parappana Agrahara in January. Their moves will only weaken the ruling party. It would be difficult even if Palani Swami and Panineer Selvam put in their best efforts.

In general, the political climate is favorable for the DMK. People have no choice other than these.

It is in this political context that the chieftain of cinema has come out seeking people’s acceptance.

Now what is going to happen? Rajinikanth’s political entry is a story that has been hearsay for the past 14 years.

Of late, he informed the fans who gathered in front of the Raghavendra wedding hall that he would announce his party on December 31.

Rajinikanth has not given public support to anyone in any other election except during the 1996 election. Rajinikanth said at the time that if people could not save the country from Jayalalithaa that time even God won’t be able to save the State.
This catapulted DMK to massive victory. But that government was also no better than the corrupt AIADMK government.
The Dravida politics that was started as an antidote to cast and religion was deep-rooted in selflessness during the period of Anna Durai.
As it grew in course of time, it split and later grew into two big trees of corruption. This is not a secret.

Under this circumstances it is natural for people to have too much expectation on Rajnikanth’s holistic politics.

For Tamilians, there is no much difference between politics and cinema.
Both MGR and Rajanikanth entered the hearts of the people by doing diverse roles on screen.
Though Rajani has now lost his star value’s sheen, he still has the image of an untainted and genuine human being.
When people want to see Rajini as the chief minister , he had said that he didn’t want to be one.
Though Kamal Haasan and Rajini are friends, their philosophy of life are different.

Rajani believes that man is the instrument of fate, Kamal believes that man himself decides his fate. So they may not get along well.

If Rajini wins, he may be trying for a corrupt-free rule. Let us hope so.

It will mark a new beginning for Tamil Nadu. Let us wait and watch but one thing is for sure.

He will be a lion who cannot be defeated so soon.
On December 12, Rajinikanth will turn 70. May the fate give him good health to win the poll battle that comes after five months.
