Actor Hareesh Peradi came down heavily on centre’s decision of naming the second campus of Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) in Thiruvananthapuram under Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideologue M S Golwalkar. He showed his ire via a Facebook post. ‘The name of the shoe licker should be thrown into the dustbin,’ his post said.

Science and Technology Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had yesterday informed that the second campus of RGCB in Aakkulam is ready to be dedicated to the nation. The minister had asserted that this will be known as ‘Shri Guruji Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar National Centre for Complex Disease in Cancer and Viral Infection’.

The government and the opposition had opposed the move of the centre to name the campus after Golwalkar. In a letter to Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has demanded that the campus be named after some eminent Indian scientist of international repute instead of the proposed name.
