KOCHI: Customs has submitted the evidence in gold smuggling case in the high court in a sealed cover. Customs has given more evidence on the involvement of Sivasankar in the case to the court. Court has asked the department to hand over the evidence in a sealed cover. Sivasankar who has fulfilled his custody term was presented by customs before the court.

Meanwhile, a media outlet has reported that Sivasankar was involved in appointing a high level IT team for the Kerala high court. The five-member team was appointed on the recommendations of a panel in which Sivasankar was also a member. The salary of the members of the team ranged from Rs 60,000 to Rs 3 lakh. Documents show that rejecting NIC, the special IT team was appointed after an interview on a contract basis.

Probe agencies are also investigating whether any breach of information has happened after these appointments were made. Swapna’s appointment in space park, on the interference of Sivasankar, has created a big controversy. Meanwhile, M Sivasankar has withdrawn his bail plea on the case imposed by customs in connection with the gold smuggling case.

Sivasankar’s contention is that customs was not able to produce any substantial evidence against him so far. However, customs has said that apart from gold smuggling the former principal secretary is also involved in the dollar transfer case. Meanwhile, recording of Swapna’s secret testimony will continue in Magistrate court on Monday.
