CHENNAI: Perarivalan’s mother Arputhamal is gearing up to approach the Supreme Court against the dealy in the release of accused involved in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Arputhamal told the media that she has been eagerly waiting for the release of her son in the last 28 years. “If he is not released, I will not vote in the coming assembly polls and will protest in the front of Raj Bhavan,” she said.

Governor’s decision on the government recommendation to release Peraraivalan on humanitarian grounds is still pending. Perarivalan’s mother is gearing up for a legal battle in the midst of this. The central government has informed the Supreme Court that the Governor can take an independent decision on the release of the convicts. But the governor is waiting for the special investigation committee report which is currently probing the international conspiracy behind the case.

With just months ahead of assembly polls in the state, it is clear that once again Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case will become a ‘hot topic.’ Judge K T Thomas, who declared the verdict on the case, in his letter written to Sonia Gandhi has said that Perarivalan and Nalini were convicted in the case, on a charge sheet crafted in a vague and unclear manner.
