NEW DELHI: Farmers 'organizations have rejected the formula put forward by the Central Government to settle the farmers' protest. The farmers are of the view that the strike will continue till the three contentious farmers' laws passed by the central government are withdrawn. Farmers' union leaders told the media that this was a unanimous decision.
The Center gave the recommendations in writing to the farmers to appease the protesters. Written assurances were given to the farmers regarding the MSP. The Centre assured the farmers that the support price will be maintained, contract farming disputes will be taken to court directly, the same tax will be levied on agricultural markets and outside, and registration will be introduced for those outside the market.
The central government has invited the farmers' organizations for another meeting on Thursday to end the protest. But Baldev Singh Sirsa, a farmer leader, said that the unions would take part in the talks only if the centre assures that the laws would be repealed.
