KOCHI: The Kerala High Court will consider today the bail plea of former minister V K Ebrahim Kunju in the Palarivattom bridge corruption case. Kunju in his plea requested to grant him bail as he requires better treatment following serious health issues. His plea mentioned that he has cooperated with the probe so far.
His plea said that he was indicted for political reasons and arresting him nine months after the charge sheet was filed in the case, is mysterious. Meantime, the prosecution is of the stand that he should not be granted bail and he needs to be questioned for four more days.
The investigating team registered his arrest on November 18 while undergoing treatment for cancer at a private hospital in Ernakulam. The vigilance found Kunju’s role in releasing an advance amount of Rs 8.25 crore to RDS Projects Ltd, the contractor of the flyover work violating the rules.
