bar-bribery-case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan asked for more evidences to give permission for registering a case against former ministers V S Sivakumar and K Babu in the bar bribery case. The Governor has asked the government to produce more documents against them.

Hotelier Biju Ramesh had alleged that during the previous UDF Government, Ministers V S Sivakumar, K Babu and KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala had received bribe to reduce the bar license fees. The chief minister had given permission to conduct a probe against them. As they were ministers at that time, the home department as per law sought governor’s permission. They got the legal advice that as Chennithala was not a minister, governor’s nod is not needed. Meantime, the speaker gave permission for a vigilance probe against Chennithala.
