THRISSUR: Devotees will not be allowed to enter the Guruvayur temple from tomorrow after 46 employees of the temple test positive for Covid.

The temple premises have also been declared as a cantonment zone in the wake of the Covid confirmation. However, the Devaswom Board said that the poojas and ceremonies would be held as usual.

In an antigen test conducted today at Guruvayur Devaswom for 153 employees, 22 people tested positive for COVID-19. With this, the number of Covid patients in Devaswom has increased to 46. The antigen test for employees was conducted in the context of the confirmation of Covid spread in Devaswom.

Devaswom officials said there was a piece of baseless news on social media that the chief priest had tested positive for the viral disease and action would be taken against those spreading such news. The authorities added that the Guruvayur temple is currently closed.
