MALAPPURAM: Skirmish occurred between P V Anwar MLA and a bunch of people when the former tried to enter into Appankavu colony in Nilambur in Malappuram district. The incident occurred by Friday night 11 pm. The people in nearby areas blocked the MLA from entering into the colony of scheduled tribes as they alleged that the MLA has come to visit the people in the colony at late night with malicious intentions.

UDF said that the MLA’s late-night visit to the colony was for influencing the voters with alcohol and money. Following the incident, there occurred a brawl between LDF and UDF workers.

A UDF worker was arrested following the MLA’s arrest and the other workers staged a demonstration in front of the police station demanding his release. Meanwhile, the MLA has responded that he reached colony as part of political activism and he hadn’t visited Appankavu colony. He also added that UDF workers have hatched a plot to kill him and Aryadan’s gundas are behind the attack against him.
