KOCHI: Enforcement directorate has decided to tighten the noose on former principal secretary M Sivasankar in connection with the gold smuggling case before the court grants him natural bail. Sivasankar who was arrested on October 28 will receive natural bail after 60 days. ED is gearing up to submit a second chargesheet on the case before December 24.

ED thinks that more information against Sivasankar will be received from Swapna and Sandeep on interrogating them further. ED has submitted a plea in Ernakulam principal sessions court for this purpose. The plea asks the court to hand over their custody for three days. The court is likely to take up the agency’s plea on Monday.

The chargesheet will be complied with the new information received from Swapna and Sarith. ED has already submitted the initial chargesheet against both accused before the court. In addition to this, the agency is also gearing up to submit a second chargesheet indicting Sivasankar.
