THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health minister K K Shylaja has said that covid 19 cases will increase in the state after the local body polls. Large scale transmission of the pandemic is going to happen in the state. The health minister has also told that the ministry has given special instructions to police personnel and health workers to be ready and be vigilant.

“Everybody should follow self lockdown. Everybody should try to stay indoors especially the senior citizens and children,” the minister said. KK Shylaja also said that along with rising covid 19 cases, there is a possibility for the increase in death cases also. The minister also added that when the lockdown was eased, high number of cases were recorded in the ensuing days. Now, manifold increase in cases could be expected compared to previous times.

The minister supported the district administration’s move to close down Pothy’s in Thiruvananthapuram where severe violation of covid 19 protocol held. The minister said what happened at Pothy’s could have been prevented and the stock clearance sale could have been done by strictly adhering to Covid 19 protocol. If covid spread increases to sporadic levels then those in higher income brackets should consult in private hospitals.
