KOTTAYAM: The Jacobite faction is all set to enter the churches handed over to the Orthodox faction following Supreme Court order. A tense situation is prevailing in many places following this. In some places, the police intervened and stopped the attempt of the Jacobites to enter churches.
Many Jacobite devotees reached Mulanthuruthy church. Bishop Joseph Mar Gregorios who conducted a mass at the temporary prayer centre erected outside the church reached the church courtyard. A large contingent of police have been deployed in the place as a tense situation prevails. The police is trying to thwart them from entering the church. Police stopped the bid of Jacobite devotees to enter the Vadavukod St Mary’s Church. The police intervened clarifying that they will not permit to surpass the court verdict. The devotees are staging protests in front of the church. More devotees are reaching other churches.
Jacobite faction’s stand is to enter 52 churches including Mulanthuruthy and Piravom. Although there is no obstacle for devotees to enter churches, the Orthodox faction is of the stand that they will not allow priests and bishops of the Jacobite faction to enter churches.
