THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Noted agriculture expert and former director of agricultural department R Haley died here Sunday. He was 87. He died following heart attack at his daughter’s house in Alappuzha Sunday morning at 8.45 am. He leaves behind his wife Dr Susheela and children Dr Poornima and Prashanth (Town Planning, engineer). He will be cremated at Pearl Hill near old Gowri Theatre in Attingal.
He was a member of the Kerala Agricultural Policy Committee. He is the one who started farm journalism. He was behind the programmes ‘Vayalum Veedum’ in Akashavani and ‘Nattinpuram’ in Doordarshan. He has written articles on agriculture in several newspapers and periodicals. He has written many books also.
