KOCHI: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that the chief minister has decided to write to Prime Minister to save the accused in the gold smuggling case. He also alleged that the chief minister is trying to misuse his position.
The chief minister has told presspersons on Saturday that he will write a letter to Prime Minister to reveal the sinister intentions of central probe agencies to sabotage the state government in the name of probes and by raising fake allegations against the government. “The chief minister should send the letter to Prime Minister only after understanding the general mood of people in the state and unfortunately, it is not what is being done here. Majority of people in Kerala would like to continue the probe on gold smuggling case. The general sentiment being that the chief minister has written to the prime minister asking to halt the investigation over the case, this amount to a misuse of his official position,” the opposition leader said.
“Sending the letter will create a wrong precedence. The accused in cases registered as part of the gold smuggling case should be brought before the law,” Chennithala added. The opposition reiterated that the letter is only intended to protect the accused in the gold smuggling case.
“Chief minister addressed the media in an agitated mood in the press meet held on Saturday. He lashed out at the central probe agencies but didn’t say a word against Narendra Modi who actually manages these probe agencies. He was also silent over union home minister Amit Shah,” Chennithala said. He also asked why the chief minister is not able to blame them at least one per cent of what he said against him.
