THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The final phase of polling in the local body elections will be held today in 6867 wards including two corporations and 31 municipalities in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kasaragod and Kannur districts. The counting of votes will begin at 8 am on the 16th.

Postal votes, including special votes distributed to covid victims, will be counted first. State Election Commissioner V Bhaskaran said that the preparations for the counting of votes have been completed. While the counting of votes in the three-tier panchayats will be held at the block level, the vote-counting in municipalities and corporations will be held at the distribution and reception centres of the respective institutions.

The counting of votes in all the polling stations in a ward will be arranged in a table. There are 244 counting centres across the state.
