THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Customs received crucial information on those who worked behind Swapna’s audio leak, in which she said that ED will make her an approver if she gives testimony against the chief minister. Swapna Suresh revealed this lead to the customs officials in the interrogation held on Sunday. Swapna Suresh’s audio which was reportedly leaked while she was lodged in Attakulangara jail initially surfaced in an online portal based in Kochi.
Even though Swapna hasn’t named ED directly in the audio file, the online media handle has added that ED has threatened her to name the chief minister’s name. With this, it was suspected that somebody was behind the plot and whether it is an attempt to whitewash the government. The large scale transfer of this audio file by left front workers in social media platforms enhanced the suspicion of customs. Meanwhile, as the purported incident happened within the jail premises jail DGP has demanded a police probe but they didn’t show any interest even in conducting a preliminary enquiry but the central agencies considered this as a serious issue.
On interrogating Swapna, probe officials have found that the ‘audio leak’ was part of a drama undertaken by Kerala police. A prominent media house has already reported that a high official from state special branch has been behind this operation and it was done on secret orders from top levels in the police department. Swapna while undergoing ED’s custody contacted the special branch official, for the first time through the cell phone of the lady constable who was given Swapna’s security responsibility.
Even though Swapna was not informed about the whereabouts of the person talking to her, she was given due direction about the information to be communicated with the official. On the basis of this, the conversation went on, her conversation was recorded and after removing the unwanted areas only the crucial part was aired. In the audio, Swapna has also alleged that the probe agency took away the testimony documents from her, without even showing it to her.
When ED strongly demanded probe into Swapna’s audio leak, state crime branch declared an investigation. But further proceedings have not been taken in the case. The information received to customs will be presented before the court in a detailed report.
