KANNUR: Bombs were seized from Kannur during the third phase of the local body elections. Six country bombs were unearthed from Muzhakkunnu panchayat. The bombs were found in Nellyad and Vattapoyil. It was kept in a bag and a bucket.

The police were searching the place after locals complained of hearing the sound of a bomb last night. The bombs were found in Mudakozhi hill, the place where the accused in TP Chandrasekharan murder case were hiding. The sound of the bomb was heard from that side of the hill.

The bomb and the dog squads are examining the place. District police chief Yathish Chandra has left to the spot.

Meantime, one person who came for bogus voting has been held. He came to vote at the sixth ward of Aalakkadil in Kadannappally Panappuzha grama panchayat. He has been identified as Murfid, a Muslim League activist.

Murfid came to do the vote of his brother Murshid who is in the Gulf. The LDF activists who noticed the impersonation brought it to the attention of the booth authorities and took him into custody.
