NEYYATTINKARA: Former MLA and senior lawyer of Neyyattinkara Bar Association Advocate SR Thankaraj (84) passed away at Sugatha Bhavan, Alummoodu Junction, Neyyattinkara.

He was the MLA from the Left Janata Party representing the Neyyattinkara constituency from 1982 to 1992. During his 50 years of legal career as a lawyer in Neyyattinkara Court, he served as President of the Bar Association and Chairman of the Taluk Urban Bank. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Taluk Urban Bank, State Secretary of Janata Forum and Chief Patron of Gandhi Mitra Constituency. He had been in court until before the Covid pandemic and was being treated for cancer a year ago. He died at the Nims Hospital in Neyyattinkara at 7 pm yesterday. After the demise of his wife Sugatha in 1992, he turned his home into office and lived with his daughter Sindhu. His only son RT Pradeep is a High Court lawyer.

His body will be kept for public showing at Sugatha Bhavan, Alummoottu, Neyyattinkara at 11 am today and will be buried at 4 pm at the family grave at Kanjiramkulam.
