CHENNAI: The party of actor Rajinikanth has been named ‘Makkal Sevai Katchi’. The new name was registered after changing ‘Makkal Shakthi Kazhagam’. The symbol of the party will be ‘autorickshaw’. The election commission has approved the symbol and name of the party.

The style mannan had earlier considered the name Makkal Shakthi Kazhagam and ‘hasta mudra’ symbol (made famous by Rajini in 2002 film Baba). However it is heard that he approached the election commission to get the name changed and to obtain the new symbol ‘autorickshaw’. Meantime, neither Rajinikanth nor his party office had officially responded to it.

The actor in the beginning of this month had announced the formation of his political party. The announcement was after holding talks with his fans association Rajini Makkal Mandram. The actor had asserted that the party announcement will be on December 31st and the party will start functioning from January 2021. The party’s aim is to rule Tamil Nadu.
