THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC retirees will start receiving this month's pension from Monday onwards. The pension amount will be deposited in their respective co-operative bank accounts.
The government took immediate action to distribute the pension following the news published by 'Kerala Kaumudi' on Tuesday.
The delay was caused as the Finance Ministry was late in handing over last month's pension amount of Rs 68.51 crore to the consortium of co-operative banks.
The amount reached the accounts of the respective co-operative banks by yesterday evening. Bank authorities informed that the money would reach the pensioners' accounts today.
After the LDF government came to power, pensions were distributed through co-operative banks. The delay in disbursement of pension was due to election code of conduct. On December 7, the Election Commission had said that there was no impediment to the release of funds. The order was issued to release the money on the 9th. But the process got delayed.
