KOCHI: Twenty 20, the parallel people’s front, which clung to victory in last polls and attained statewide attention through its unique governance has once again repeated history. Twenty20 was contesting for polls in five panchayats for the first time. Among them, the front has secured a landslide victory in Aikkaranadu.

Currently, the panchayat was ruled by LDF. Securing victory in all seats in Aikkaranadu panchayat that too in its first election has again revealed the importance of Twenty 20 in Kerala politics.

Apart from Aikanadu panchayat, Twenty 20 has made huge advances in the other four panchayats where the front contested. The people’s front has secured 90 per cent of seats in these panchayats. Twenty 20 has contested in Kizhakambalam, Vengola, Aikaranadu, Mazhuvanoor and Kunnatunadu panchayats.

Though the local polls Twenty 20 is gearing up to become a crucial power Kerala politics. The people’s alliance is formulating plans to further expand the pro people’s programmes that it implemented in Kizhakambalam in other panchayats in the state. Even though LDF and UDF tested a joint candidate against Twenty20 this time, it failed to generate any result.
