THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said that based on the results of the local body elections that came out on Wednesday, it is clear that there is no damage to the UDF base. This time, the party had a good result comparing it with the 2015 local body elections. Results were better in panchayats and municipalities. The situation has also improved in corporations.

Ramachandran said the final results of the district panchayat have not been finalized yet and the matter will be discussed at the Political Affairs Committee meeting tomorrow. At the same time, the KPCC president clarified that any correction will be made if necessary. The LDF was supposed to campaign for the election by highlighting development achievements. However, the KPCC president alleged that not a single letter was said about it.

Local issues will be the focus of the local body elections, with the exception of the 2010 elections, the local body elections were in favor of the LDF. With this election, it can be understood that the BJP is irrelevant in the state and is confined to a few pockets. They were able to make progress only in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad and Pandalam. Chennithala said the party would look into the setback in the corporation in the capital. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said that despite maximizing the benefits of the central government, they could not reap the benefits. He said the fight against the anti-people policies of the central and state governments would continue.

Senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy also said that the election results would be discussed in detail tomorrow. The three leaders addressed the media in Thiruvananthapuram to comment on the election results.
