THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reacting to the Left Democratic Front's brilliant victory in the local body elections, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the victory of the Left belongs to the people and to those who want us to remain united. He said that the election saw the response of those who love the place and with this, it has become clear that double-crossing have no place in Kerala politics, he said at a press conference at 6 pm.

This time the Left won in 108 blocks and in five of the six corporations. The LDF has the upper hand in 514 grama panchayats. Last year the victory was in 98 blocks. There is currently a big improvement over 2015. In 2015, the front won in 48 municipalities. This time it was reduced to 35 in the case of municipalities alone. The CM said that the verdict was a recognition of the rule of the state government. He pointed out that it was not uncommon for the ruling coalition to win and that this time it had changed.
