THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the poll debacle in Kerala, congress leaders in the state have called for a comprehensive review. The leaders are blaming each other for the disastrous defeat. It won’t be that easy for KPCC chief and the opposition leader to respond to the criticisms. Many urge for a leadership change.

K Sudhakarann, K Muraleedharan and Adoor Prakash have already come forward criticizing the leadership. Minority votes have distanced from the UDF, alleged senior congress leader P J Kurien. Although not a cadre party, the congress had once strong committees at the grassroots.

The candidates had financial difficulties. The party did not give money. There was a situation where money was accepted for the candidature. The allegations are against government officials. The people will not believe all this until the allegations levelled against the chief minister and ministers are proved. They could not take advantage of the favourable situation, he said.

It should be examined whether the KPCC members contributed anything in the polls, said Rajmohan Unnithan. He blamed the congress leadership for severing ties with the people and is not enough to function through whatsapp and twitter. He also criticised for aligning with the welfare party.

The welfare party came forward against Mullappally Ramachandran. It is alleged that Mullappally made confusing statements on the political tie-up with the welfare party and the UDF. It was not without the knowledge of the leaders. They alleged that it happened due to the carelessness of the congress.

The congress knows better than anyone else that skin treatment alone will not save the congress. It should be seen whether the congress will come up with a solution. Polls cannot be won by press conferences alone, should enter the field and this is the lesson for the congress.
