KANNUR: The BJP was not able to make the expected headway in the local body polls, said party national vice-president A P Abdullakutty. The party suffered a setback due to the alliance between the CPM-Congress where we expected to win.

The two fronts consider the BJP as their main foe. The CPM had asserted that they are not hesitant to vote for the Congress if they see that the BJP will win in any constituency. If the party has any defects, it will be rectified, he said.

The national leadership has a clear assessment about the BJP in Kerala. The central leadership will evaluate the poll results. The issues related to Shobha Surednran and Velayudhan were discussed a lot and almost solved, he said.

There will be changes in favour of the BJP among the minorities. I will not contest the assembly polls. I am working as part of the party in the national level. I wish to work focusing Lakshadweep, he said.
