THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 6293 people tested positive for the virus on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.

Among these, 5578 persons developed the disease through contact including 593 cases without an identified source of infection. 73 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 49 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 4749 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 60,396 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 29 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 2786.

In the last 24 hours, 59,995 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 10.49.

With the addition of 4 new regions and removal of 4, there are 458 hotspots in the state.
