PALAKKAD: Two were killed after a truck collided head-on with a lorry parked on the Walayar National Highway. The deceased have been identified as Rajesh (40) of Kodungallur and Kulanthavelvelu (43) of Tamil Nadu. The accident took place near the Walayar excise check post at 2.30 am yesterday.
The lorry was heading towards Coimbatore and was parked opposite the excise check post to rest for the night. This is where the tipper hit. On impact, Rajesh died on the spot. Due to the force of the collision, the lorry moved forward and hit another cargo lorry parked in front. Kulanthavel, a native of Veerarajapet, Tamil Nadu, who was in the lorry, fell and died on the road. Traffic on the national highway was disrupted following the accident.
