THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress Political Affairs Committee assessed that a change of leadership in the congress in Kerala will not be beneficial now. There was a demand for a change of leadership from all corners following the poll debacle. The meet convened assessed that a change of leadership would do more harm than good. The assembly elections are scheduled for May. In the wake of the CPMs election campaign, the political affairs committee found that a change of leadership would only weaken the Congress further.
Tariq Anwar, AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala will participate in the political affairs committee to be held on December 27. He will then hold detailed meetings with the leaders. There are chances for changes in DCC level. Action are likely to be taken against DCCs in places where a major defeat was witnessed. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Palakkad are in the list. There is a strong demand to bring former chief minister Oommen Chandy to the leadership to regain the lost religious minority votes in central Kerala.
