KOCHI: A major fire broke out at the godown where plastic scrap was dumped at Thathampally in Paravur. The godown has been completely gutted in the fire. No casualty has been reported. The fire broke out when welding works were progressing in the godown at 11.30 am.

The godown is next to a residential area. As smoke started bellowing, people residing in the area were evacuated. Six units of the fire brigade reached the spot and stopped the fire from spreading to nearby houses. The plastic waste was dumped here for recycling.
