While Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's remark regarding Muslim League taking over the leadership of the United Democratic Front (UDF) is evoking sharp criticism from Congress and Muslim League leaders, an old speech made by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala against the Muslim League is gaining attention on social media. The video shows Chennithala talking about the stance taken by Rajya Sabha member and former KPCC president CK Govindan Nair against the Muslim League. The video was shot while Chennithala served as the president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

In his speech, Chennithala said that CK Govindan Nair had once stated that he was a man who strongly opposed to teaming up with the Muslim League and that giving two or three seats to the League in Malabar would lead to them demanding more seats in the future.

"Later Kerala politics proved that what he said was literally true. As the KPCC President, I wish to say that I fully agree with CK Govindan Nair's statement that the Congress' relationship with the communal forces and community organizations should not cross a certain limit," Chennithala said during the speech.

It must be noted that Ramesh Chennithala was one of the UDF leaders who sharply criticized the Chief Minister for his remark about the League.
