KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will attach the properties of M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister. The ED’s move is to attach all the assets which are in the name of Sivasankar. The ED’s finding is that he amassed everything through illegal means.
According to officials of the enforcement, Sivasankar had amassed assets of more than Rs 14 crore. Meantime, the court will pronounce the verdict in the bail plea of Sivasankar in the money laundering case related to gold smuggling. The ED argued that there are strong proofs against Sivasankar and the money recovered from Swapna Suresh’s locker is the commission he got in life mission.
The ED said Sivasankar had called the customs to get the bag containing gold released through the diplomatic channel. The ED has retrieved the whatsapp chats, statements, digital proofs and many other evidences against Sivasankar in the case. Meantime, Sivasankar’s lawyer alleged that the ED is taking statement against Sivasankar by threatening Swapna.
