THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is seeking alternative possibilities against agricultural law amendment. The decision was taken by a special cabinet meet. The state government is thinking of alternatives to Punjab model. A sub panel has been appointed by the cabinet for it.
The cabinet decided to recommend to the Governor for a special session of the Legislative Assembly be convened on December 23rd to pass a resolution against the central government's controversial farm bills. Both the LDF and the UDF have pledged their support for the farmers strike. Their aim is express state’s sentiments unitedly in this regard by convening a special assembly session.
A decision to convene the assembly was taken after chief minister’s telephonic conversation with the opposition leader. As it is a special emergency session, there is no need to seek 15 days prior approval from the Governor. The governor has not given permission for the assembly to be convened on January 8. The assembly is scheduled to meet for an hour on Wednesday. It will start at nine in the morning. All party leaders will get the opportunity to speak.
