THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The elected members to 1199 local bodies of the state have taken the oath of office. The swearing-in ceremony was held at 10 am in village, block, district panchayats and municipalities. The swearing in will take place at 11.30 am in corporations.

The first member was sworn in by the respective returning officer in grama, block and district panchayats. The returning officer administered the oath of office to the oldest member and this member then administers the oath of office to the other members. The first meeting of the new administration was presided over by this member. In the corporation, the district collector administers the oath of office.

The function was held in strict accordance to the pandemic protocol. Elections for presidents of municipalities and corporations will be held on December 28. The election for presidents of three tier panchayats will be on December 30.
