THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary A Vijayaraghavan has rendered open support to chief minister’s Facebook post written against Congress and League. “His statement on Muslim League that it is moving towards religious fundamentalism is right. He has talked about the Muslim League, not about Muslims,” Vijayaraghavan said.
“The chief minister has talked about politics. We won’t allow fundamentalism to take roots in Kerala. League is trying to control entire Kerala under the garb of religious fundamentalism. League even took secular Muslims to the side of fundamentalism,” CPM state secretary said.
With the results of local body polls, suspicion has raised within the parties in UDF, that whether Indian Union Muslim League alone is taking up reigns of the coalition’s leadership. The controversy around the chief minister’s Facebook post, in which he alleged that Muslim League has even grown to the extent of intervening in the in party issues of Congress, deciding even who will lead the grand old party, is brewing up. Congress and League have already risen in arms against the chief minister.
UDF and Muslim League leaders have made the counter allegation that Chief Minister’s response will be only beneficial for Sanghparivar politics.
“CPM is trying to apply the north-Indian communal politics of BJP in Kerala. The chief minister has only reiterated the statement of BJP minister V Muraleedharan. CM is intending to destroy the League and install some other forces to fill our space. CPM should remember that through communally coloured statements they are only augmenting BJP’s growth in Kerala. There are no leaders in Kerala like Pinarayi who holds such strong communal feelings. He is the most communal chief minister in Kerala,” said Muslim League state general secretary K P A Majeed.
The editorial on E K Sunni faction’s mouthpiece Suprabhatham has also criticised the chief minister’s statement. The chief minister is firing communal cannons. What is the problem if League comes into UDF’s leadership? The editorial also complained that by blaming Muslim League the chief minister is insulting the entire community.
