KOTTAYAM: This is a rare case of a man who has chosen robbery as his profession. He likes to steal from houses where someone dies. He visits their houses, condoles and when they move around, steals valuable items from there. A special team nabbed Chakkara alias Francis (38) of Pinnakkanad in Kottayam in connection with a theft case in Athirampuzha.

His style of theft is that he reads daily newspapers and then locates the houses where someone dies. He visits and gets acquainted with them. When they move around, he steals and then flees. The accused produced in the court has been remanded. The gold stolen from Athirampuzha was sold at a jewellery shop in Kottayam. The police have recovered it. As per the direction of the district police chief, the accused was nabbed by a team led by DySP R Sreekumar, Ettumanoor SHO Rajesh Kumar, sub inspectors Deepak, Shajimon, ASIs Pradeep, Thomas T V, CPOs Sabu Mathew, Smijith Vasavan and Rajesh T P.
