KOLLAM: Following the thrilling victory in local body polls, the statewide campaign launched by chief minister commenced from Kollam on Tuesday, after the campaign in Kollam, the chief minister will move to Pathanamthitta. The government is gearing up to design a total development policy for the state, by completing the campaign in all districts, before the state assembly polls.
Meanwhile, NSS has decided to boycott the programmes and ceremony related to the statewide campaign, even after the government officially inviting the Kollam taluk president of the organisation. The caste organisation is abstaining from the programme, justifying that the government is not recognising NSS’s demands. NSS has also alleged that the government has also shown lapses in implementing the EWS reservation. The Nair community organisation is also disappointed over the government’s stand not to declare Mannam Jayanti as a public holiday.
Chief Minister will seek the opinion of prominent personalities who will meet him from different parts of the state, during the campaign. The campaign is undertaken to get a clear picture of how the future of the state should be made. CPM is gearing up to make the chief minister’s campaign a historical event as it is undertaken following the epic victory in local body polls.
The inception ceremony of the campaign has been commenced at the Beach Orchid hotel in Kollam. The chief minister who will go to Pathanamthitta from Kollam will meet prominent figures in Aban Tower at 4.30 pm. The campaign also involves a similar meet in Kottayam on Wednesday and in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. Such district level programmes to interact with prominent personalities are conducted as there are limitations to conduct large scale programmes due to the ongoing pandemic situation.
The chief minister’s campaign is undertaken on the directions of LDF’s state committee.
The development ideas of the state and resource utilisation will be widely discussed in these meets. The chief minister will also explain the importance of completing the development projects and pro-people programmes started by the state government, throughout the campaign.
