Jacobite Bishop Geevarghese Mar Coorilose praised Raju (Adakka Raju), the prime witness in the Sister Abhaya case. Saluting Raju's by sharing his picture on Facebook, Coorilose said that Raju is in fact a saint though he can be called a 'kallan' (thief) because he drinks 'kallu' (toddy).

According to Raju, on the day of Abhaya's murder, when he went to the Math for theft, he saw Father Kottur and Father Jose Poothrikkayil there.

This marked an important turning point in the investigation. But some have argued about the credibility of the statement. The respondent also pointed this out.

The respondent questioned how credible the statement of a thief was. However, Raju stood firm in his statement even when all the witnesses in the case turned away. Despite the threats and temptations, Raju did not back down.
