KOCHI: The High Court order to allow 5,000 devotees to enter Sabarimala daily from the 20th of this month has not been implemented. The High Court sought an explanation from the government in a petition filed by the Travancore Devaswom Board Employees Front seeking court action against the chief secretary and others. The petition will be considered on January 4.

The Mandala-Makaravilakku season will end on January 21. Currently, only 2,000 devotees are admitted daily. The petition alleges that 3,000 devotees are losing the opportunity to perform darshan every day. However, the government has said it will allow more devotees from today and has set up an online booking facility for this. The government explained that the action was delayed because the last two days were holidays. The court then sought a written explanation.
