KASARGOD: A league leader has been named as the accused in the case of murdering a DYFI activist in Kanhangad. The police has indicted Youth League municipal secretary Irshad in the case. A case has been registered against other two identifiable people.
The case was registered based on the statement of friend of Auf Abdul Rehman stabbed to death last night. Irshad who sustained injuries is undergoing treatment. Rehman was killed last night at Mundathod in Kanhangad. He was 27. The CPM alleged Muslim League behind the attack and murder.
A tense situation was prevailing in the area for quite some time following a brawl between the League and DYFI. Meantime, the Muslim League has asserted that they don’t have any role in the attack. Rehman was an active member of Kanthapuram AP faction. The LDF will observe hartal in the area in protest against the attack. The body of Rehman has been shifted to Pariyaram Kannur Government Medical College for post mortem.
