THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5177 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 4542 persons developed the disease through contact including 475 cases without an identified source of infection. 108 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 52 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 4801 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 63,155 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 22 deaths due to the virus on Thursday with the toll rising to 2914.

In the last 24 hours, 56,073 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.23.

With the addition of 3 new regions and the removal of 4, there are 459 hotspots in the state.
