KOCHI: The BJP is preparing a draft list of candidates as part of its preparations for the Assembly elections. It is learnt that state president K Surendran will contest from Konn while national vice president AP Abdullakutty is likely to contest from Kasargod.

Retired IPS officers TP Senkumar and Jacob Thomas and former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair are on the list.

Sobha Surendran is being considered at Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram. Kummanam Rajasekharan will contest from Nemom constituency if O Rajagopal decides to stay away from the elections. Kummanam is also being considered in Chengannur. It is also learnt that PS Sreedharan Pillai will return to active politics after resigning as Mizoram governor. If he returns, he may contest in Chengannur. Rajya Sabha member Suresh Gopi is also eyeing Nemom. The BJP wants Suresh Gopi to contest in the Thiruvananthapuram Central constituency. He is also being considered in the Kollam constituency.
