THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Election Commission is considering a proposal to hold the Assembly elections in two phases. The opinion was raised during a meeting between state Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena and top officials. Election Commission officials will arrive in Kerala in the first week of January for further discussions.

The district collectors had informed the Chief Electoral Officer that there will be a shortage of officers due to the spread of COVID. It is learnt that the Chief Secretary and the DGP are of the view that the election process can be completed smoothly in two phases.

Election Commission officials will hold meetings with political party leaders in this regard.
