KOTTAYAM: Human rights activist and whistleblower Jomon Puthenpurackal has said that retired Supreme Court judge Justice Syriac Thomas has tried to sabotage the case from the very beginning itself. He also alleged that Justice Thomas has intervened in the case multiple times as the accused is his relative.

Syriac Joseph is the close relative of Thomas M Kottur, the chief accused in the case. He tried to destroy evidence and even tamper them with the help of probe officials. When Abhaya was murdered Syriac Thomas was Additional Advocate General in the high court.
