The local body elections this time was full of zest and zeal that the state has never seen before. It was also the election in which the youth were more represented than ever before.

Young men and women from all parties have won in municipalities and panchayats. So it is not simply said that the future of the country lies with the youth. When it is implemented, hopes and dreams about the future will bloom.

It can be said that the decision of the CPM leadership to appoint Arya Rajendran as the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram was unexpected move. Until Saturday, the name of Jameela Sreedharan, who is much senior age-wise, mature and has official experience, was heard loud as the prospective Mayor candidate.
