THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a shocking incident, a son in an inebriated condition beat his 72-year-old mother to death in Aruvikkara. She has been identified as Nandini residing at Kachani in Aruvikkara. The police have arrested her son Shibu (48) in connection with the incident.

The incident happened at 11.30 pm on the night of December 24. He himself informed this to the police. When examined the body, the police saw some beat marks on her face. His arrest was recorded after the post-mortem report also revealed that the cause of death was torture.

Shibu having some mental disorders was in the army earlier. He told police that he took the extreme step after she questioned his liquor consumption. He was in the army for 14 years and reached home after getting involved in some cases. Only the two were staying in the house. His wife had estranged from him.
